Brand Profile: Colours & Sons

With 50 stockists in the UK to date, lifestyle label Colours & Sons has rapidly gathered pace since its launch into the global market in 2012. Under the helm of Michael Spriggs Agency for the second season, the brand – the younger, trend-led sister label to German brand Fynch Hatton – is entering a/w 18 with its most comprehensive collection to date.

Inspired by the motto “Around the World”, the design ethos behind the new range focuses on the origin of each product. Using both digital and organic prints, the new season will see Colours & Sons embrace both bold and innovative patterns.

Knitwear uses classic felt appliqué to bring famous city names to the chest (pictured above), such as London, Paris and New York, while novel printing techniques create casual feather and flower designs on wool sweaters. In addition to folkloric jacquard patterns, the collection also includes graphic and geometric motifs. A collection highlight, meanwhile, is a reinterpreted hand knitted sweater in a classic Argyle pattern.

The 70-piece plus shirt collection, meanwhile, is essential viewing, and impresses with a number of digital prints, such as animal, flower and hummingbird motifs. A key look is herringbone, which ranges from the basic and light flannel shirts to blousons and jackets – the latter in a soft wool blend quality in blue and grey. Finally, printed corduroy and denim shirts complete the commercial yet on-trend collection.

Lightly brushed sweatshirts sit alongside long-sleeved polo shirts, long-sleeved t-shirts, and polo shirts feature both with and without prints.

In addition to its modern fit chino, buyers can expect to see a slightly more structured chino silhouette – both available in a wide range of colour-ways.

 

 

In terms of fabrication, Colours & Sons welcomes a series of natural fibres including merino wool, cashmere and cotton. Lightweight all-season yarns offer ideal layering options, while chunky knitwear in heavier yarns bring a robust and masculine feel to the collection, which will be distributed sparingly. In addition to these yarns, soft textures and slightly roughened yarns play an important role and ensure ultimate comfort.

Three main colour themes form the backbone of the collection, with Hot Winter forming of beige, warm yellow, blue and red, following by Cozy Countries, comprising petrol, navy and light blue, and Beautiful Nature, featuring orange, green, silver and anthracite. All these colours can be ordered on a multi-delivery basis and provide a consistent colour image throughout the season.
